Dr. B Jayashankar
     MBBS, DNB (Orthopaedics)

Dr. B Jayashankar is a Bangalore-based Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in trauma, joint replacement, spine injury, oncosurgery and paediatric orthopaedics. He has been running his own orthopaedic clinic, named Jahnavi Clinic, since the year 2000. When required he operates on his clinic patients at the Citi Hospital or Ananya Hospital. 

Dr. Jayashankar has had extensive training and gained wide experience in his field over the years since completing his MBBS in 1990 from Karnataka Medical College in 1990. After his MBBS, he was stationed as House Officer at four hospitals in Mumbai, viz. KB Bhabha Hospital (Bandra), RN Cooper Hospital (Juhu), Centenary Hospital (Govandi) and Bhatia General Hospital (Tardeo) from August 1991 to July 1994, in preparation for the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) examination in Orthopaedics, which he cleared in July 1994. He then was designated as Registrar at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa for two months and Chief Resident at the Mahatma Gandhi Mission Medical College, Navi Mumbai, in the departments of orthopaedics and casualty for about a year until September 1995.

Dr. Jayashankar's next posting was at the Raj Group of Hospitals as an Orthopaedic Resident until September 1996, after which he had a stint of eight months as Registrar General at Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai. In August 1997, he joined Vidyasagar Institute of Mental Health, Neuro and Allied Sciences (VIMHANS), New Delhi, as Clinical Assistant (Orthopaedics) where he worked till November 1999, when he joined Santosh Hospital in Bangalore as Surgical Registrar until August 2001.

Dr. Jayashankar's next four positions were also in Bangalore, commencing with the Trinity Hospital as Trauma Registrar (August 2001 to July 2002), Mallaya Hospital as Orthopaedic Registrar (July 2002 to May 2003), Trauma and Joint Clinic (with Dr. Rupendu) as Clinical Assistant – Orthopaedics (May 2003 to September 2004) and the Al-Ameen Hospital as Junior Consultant – Orthopaedics (from September 2004). Concurrently, in 2000 he established his own clinic and has also been associated with the Citi Hospital and Ananya Hospital.

Dr. B Jayashankar is familiar with all aspects of orthopaedics, having operated on many cases including difficult trauma, spine and oncology patients, and many paediatric, general and joint replacement surgeries. In addition to his surgical work, he has also been involved in many clinical studies associating with pharmaceutical companies such as Novartis for Zoledronic acid injection and Ranbaxy for Teriparatide injection trials.
